How To Calculate Quantity Of Tiles Required For Flooring At Construction Site

In this Video Tutorial, We will Learn How to Calculate Quantity of Tiles Required for Flooring at Construction Site.

Firstly, you have to calculate the area of the room where tiles will be placed.
There is a L-shaped bedroom whose dimensions is given in the picture below. Let, divide the room in two parts, say part A and part B.


Length of part A = 3 meter ; Breadth of part A = 2 meter
Area = Length x Breadth = 3 x 2 = 6 meter square

Length of part B = 6 meter ; Breadth of part B = 2 meter
Area = Length x Breadth = 6 x 2 = 12 meter square

Therefore, Total Area of Bedroom = Area of part A + Area of part B = 6 + 12 = 18 meter square

Suppose the Length of one tile = 600 mm = 0.6 m , and breadth = 600 mm = 0.6 m
So, Area of one tile = length x breadth = 0.6 x 0.6 = 0.36 meter square

So No. of tiles required = Total Area / Area of one tile = 18 / 0.36 = 50 Nos.

Now, we have to also consider the wastage.
The wastage differs due to uneven room size, broken tiles, Band in tiles, physical property etc.
Here we will assume 5 % Wastage (Standard).

So, 50 + 5% of 50 = 50 + (5/100 x 50) = 50 + 2.5 = 52.5 numbers = 53 numbers.
